ORNAMIN was certified as a climate-neutral company on 17.08.2022. Based on the CO2 footprint for 2021, 912 tonnes of CO2 were retroactively offset. In 2022, the amount to be offset was already less than 600 tonnes, because measures had already been implemented, such as the switch to green gas and electricity, expansion of the in-house photovoltaic system, replacement of old production machines with new, energy-saving machines, complete conversion of the lighting to modern, long-life LEDs and the ongoing conversion of the company fleet to hybrid and e-mobility.
Thus, the certification could be extended until 31.12.2023 and will be extended beyond, because further measures are planned and will be implemented continuously.
The CO2 emissions are compensated for by investing in recognised climate protection projects that support the UN sustainability goals of Agenda 2023. These projects include the energy supply in the Indian state of Uttaranchal with sustainable energy generation through a run-of-river power plant.
In addition, ORNAMIN can now count itself among the members of the climate initiative "Gemeinsam Klimaneutral 2030" (Together Climate Neutral 2030) of the IHK Ostwestfalen zu Bielefeld and the IHK Lippe zu Detmold, as well as the economy of OWL. They want to show that the business community is certainly able and willing to set a good example in climate protection. "After the certificate is before the improved certificate," says Managing Director Dr Holger von der Emde in this regard. "We are always working on becoming even more sustainable."
